Hello, my name is Lieutenant N. Nguyen with the Westminster Police Department Explorer Program. I have been in the post for 2.5 years. I graduated from Westminster High School and now currently attending Cal State Long Beach. Explorers has allowed me to help my community along with having the opportunity to learn about law enforcement. My goal when I first became an explorer was to be able to grasp the idea of a career in law enforcement. Beyond that, I wanted to become a leader who can inspire and motivate individuals to achieve their goal. Not only do I have the honor to lead the post as a Lieutenant, I am able to help form them into leaders with confidence. In explorers, I have gained much knowledge allowing me to teach and enforce discipline to test their mental and physical abilities. I hope that my role in the post can influence their decisions outside and within the post.

Hello, my name is Lieutenant J. Varela with the Westminster Police Department Explorer Program. I have been in the Westminster Police Explorers for over 2 years now. I am a graduate from Westminster High School and I am currently attending Golden West College to receive my G.E. credits and transfer to Cal Poly Pomona to major in Agriculture Sciences. Before joining police explorers, I was going to join the OCFA Fire Explorers, but when an opportunity opened up for me to join the police explorers, I took it. I always wanted to be either a firefighter or a police officer, because I knew since I was a kid, that those fields would allow me to help people. When I joined explorers I thought of the post being just volunteer hours, but it was much more than that. It took commitment, dedication, and pride for the duties that we perform in our uniforms. It is a complete privilege to be serving the Westminster Police Explorers as a Lieutenant, and I am thrilled to help the younger explorers grow out of their comfort zones, and prepare them for what their future upholds them. With discipline, respect, and commitment, this post will grow bigger not in numbers but in strength. I hope that with the full integrity this post holds, we will show the best of Post 810.
