OCLEEAA Academy Summer/ Winter

Every summer and winter, explorers from agencies across from Orange County and Los Angeles County attend a 5 day explorer academy. The Orange County Law Enforcement Explorer Advisor Association (OCLEEAA) hosts the academy that occurs twice a year, and it has been continued for over 30 years. At the Westminster Police Department, explorers are required to attend the academy in order to keep their membership within the post.

At the Academy, explorers go through a lot of physical training, which also includes getting pepper sprayed in the eyes, drill, and classroom  instruction. In the classroom, law enforcement personnel teach explorers a lot of information which varies from ethics, and how to prepare for their future in the law enforcement field.

Once an explorer has completed the academy, on the last day, a graduation ceremony is held and awards are given such as Best Notebooks, Physical Fitness, Written Test, Most Improved, Most Inspirational, and the Top Overall Explorers.
